IPs view
This topic describes the IPs view which is available on both the ESPA analysis center screen and the Sentinel screen.
The IPs view allows you to display the location of IP addresses. OSS-ESPA supports both ARIN lookups and the IP2 Location database file, so when it receives the IP data from the telecommunications provider for an CASEID (LIID) it compares the IP to either the IP2Location data base file or performs an ARIN lookup and displays the results on the IPs view.
You can then use this view to display the IP locations you are interested in on the screen's map.
What these IP addresses represent is dependent on the data source. If the data source is:
-
ELSUR, then the IP address is the one which the person is accessing.
-
social media, then the IP address is where the person may be located.
Right-click any row to display this menu item. Select it if you want to add the IP address as a target location. The Target location information dialog box opens.
This allows you to define the location of an IP address so that the location of any social media traffic using the IP address is saved as a geolocation record and the device's location is then automatically displayed on for example the Sentinel screen. You can also select to include the IP address's location in the geofence, reverse geofence, multi-phone proximity and accuracy Smart Track alerts.
